Special Days Tech TeamThe Special Days "Tech Team" captures the fun and excitement of camp life with still photos and video, and helps to add magic to camp programming. We try to be very low-key... to catch the kids smiling, laughing and having a good time without using any "in your face" camera or interview techniques. You will work with campers ages 5-17 in a camp setting. It's a great opportunity to learn about all of the different parts of our camp, and see what happens each day in each of our six villages (age groups.) All applicants must be 18 years or older, and a criminal background check is required. Tech Team - PhotographerYou should be comfortable around a camera and have a good understanding of image composition. Photography classes and/or work experience are a plus. Prior experience with a digital SLR is required; most team members prefer to bring their own equipment. Experience with image management software (Adobe Lightroom, Apple's Aperture, Adobe Bridge) is required; you should also be familiar with Adobe Photoshop. Tech Team - VideographerAbility to use good judgement is critical; see the moment, capture it, move on. Have a steady hand, or bring a SteadyCam! Training in cinematography or broadcast arts a plus. You need to be able to "hit the ground running" and be familiar with different types of shots, good at hand-held, etc. Previous camera experience is required. Tech Team members should be familiar with use of a digital camcorder; most team members prefer to bring their own equipment, or can borrow it from their work or school. Experience with digital video editing software is a plus; we use Apple's Final Cut. Before camp, the Program team may have special requests for video clips or comps which will require some advance preparation. After camp, you may be asked to help us wrap up any video projects that were too big to finish during camp for upload to our YouTube channel. In previous years, we have created 'memory DVDs' which were sold to benefit Special Days and remind the kids of the great times they had at Summer and Winter camp sessions. Tech Team - Audio/VisualWe sometimes will set up a portable projector, screen, PA system and a DVD player or computer to show video clips or movies for the kids during camp; Karaoke machines, microphones for skits or announcements, or other "camp magic" are everyday occurrences. Problem-solving skills and ability to work under a tight deadline are critical! Before camp, the Program team may have special requests for technical setups which will require advance preparation. |
