Special Days Camps offers activities of a "normal" camp, adapted to meet the special needs of our campers. Programs include all of the traditional elements of a camp; arts and crafts, swimming, horseback riding, boating and campfires. Campers are given the opportunity to challenge themselves and develop life skills as they move through our programs.
Our activities are intentionally designed to promote self-esteem, confidence, friendships, teamwork and leadership in a camp environment that is medically supervised and filled with support, understanding, fun and laughter. Developing these skills can help them successfully meet the challenges of treatment, school, work and family.
After attending Special Days, campers bring home more than just dirty laundry... they bring home unforgettable memories and long-lasting friendships. They bring home tales of tasks accomplished that before were thought of as unattainable. They come home feeling more confident in themselves and more secure with their illness. It is amazing how one week at Special Days Camps can truly make a difference in their lives!

All children are special, but, when cancer strikes a child, that child and their siblings have very special needs.
For children with cancer or leukemia....Special Days Camps provides a medically supervised place to come and enjoy normal childhood camp activities in a healthy, outdoor setting - under the care of skilled medical personnel. Those in treatment are given every chance to participate in all activities. Campers find friends and counselors who understand their special experiences, concerns and dreams. They experience a sense of freedom and possibility of the great outdoors, and grow stronger and healthier each day.
For the brothers and sisters of children with cancer....When a child is diagnosed with cancer it becomes a family experience. No one is spared the stress associated with this illness. Childhood cancer can become an overwhelming experience for the healthy sibling(s). As the family attempts to adjust to the uncertanity of the child's prognosis and demands of treatment, the special needs of the siblings can be unrecognized or inadvertently neglected. Siblings have identified feeling "left out", noting that they at times feel parents are preoccupied with the ill child.
We believe that siblings need a chance to meet peers their own age who understand what they are going through and, for a time, be the center of attention.
Brothers and sisters of the ill child are invited to attend camp. Each weeklong summer session or winter weekend offers the same quality camp opportunities for growth, friendships and support as their siblings experience.
For children ages 5 and 6 who want to 'try out' camp....Special Days Investigators Camp gently introduces them to the wonderment of camp - and gives moms and dads a much-needed break.
A reunion for all....Special Days Winter Camp is a time for all campers to spend some outdoor winter fun with new and old friends. Snow, or no snow, winter camp is a non-stop blitz of fun!
Activities and challenges for all ages....Campers at Special Days are grouped into age-appropriate Villages where they will learn about friendship, enthusiasm, responsibility, respect, teamwork, and leadership.
